Agriculture and Soil fertility
A small domestic biogas plant produces about 30 tons of liquid manure a year with about 8-10% solids i.e. 2 tons of solid organic fertiliser that contains all micro nutrients and major nutrients. Major nutrients to the extent of 500 kilograms are available per year per biogas plant. Most of this major nutrient organic fertiliser is available to the plants unlike chemical fertilisers availability of about 20%. The composted organic fraction of the biogas spent slurry will create porosity in the soil and thus retains water for a long time and enables root breathing.
- Replaces chemical fertiliser to the tune of 100,000 tons per year
- Increases 300,000 acres of land fertility per year
- Saves 600,000,000 cubic meters of water per crop per year
- Increases crop yield by about 20%
